Dual Credit Courses

Dual Credit Program at CHCS 2015-2016
A partnership between College Heights and Missouri Southern State University

What is Dual Credit?

Dual Credit refers to the process of earning High School AND College credit at the same time.

Does my student have to take classes for Dual Credit?

No, this is an optional program.  However, it is a great way to earn college credit in high school.

How do you earn Dual Credit?

Students wishing to earn dual credit must officially apply for admission to MSSU through the CHCS Guidance Office.  There is NO application fee.  Cost for tuition at MSSU is $50.00 per credit hour.

Yes.  Students must be a Sophomore, Junior or Senior in high school and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.   The Math and Spanish classes have specific requirements and/or test scores.  Ask Mrs. Kruse for details.

How do I sign up?

At the beginning of the fall semester, Mrs. Kruse will speak to all the CHCS classes that qualify for dual credit.  Students will receive a packet of valuable information.  Additional information is available at www.mssu.edu/academics/dual-credit.  Take the time to read all materials.   Fill out and return forms to the Guidance Office by the established deadline.

What are the advantages?

  • Paying only $50 per credit hour (a very significant savings)
  • Starting college with some classes already completed, lightening the overall class load
  • Possibility of retroactive college credit for Spanish at $15/hour (see Mrs. Kruse for details)

Are the dual credit classes only accepted at MSSU?

No, the majority of colleges and universities our students attend accept these dual-credit classes.  However, in some cases, they will not.  It is important to research the college you plan to attend to see if they will accept our dual-credit.
